Get Involved

Volunteers are essential to the success of our school. Donating your time helps create the best possible learning environment for our children. Parents and guardians are needed in classrooms, on trips, at events, and even for small ad hoc projects (e.g., distributing soft pretzels twice a month, lunchroom helpers).

Register to volunteer: All volunteers are required to complete this School District of Philadelphia Volunteer Checklist before helping at school. This process can take time, particularly if you have not lived in Pennsylvania for 10 years, so please act now! Volunteers are needed as soon as the school year starts. Submit your completed packet to the main office or email it to PAS Penn Coordinator Ann Kreidle at Clearances are valid for five years.

Help with an Event: HSA posts volunteer opportunities in Membership Toolkit, an online volunteering portal. Join here: Membership Toolkit home page. For more details on setting up an account, see our step-by-step instructions for signing up for Membership Toolkit.

Contact your child’s teacher to volunteer in the classroom, stuff the weekly Pony envelopes, lead a literature circle, chaperone school trips, and more.

Serve on an initiative: Join the Equity Circle,  PAS 5K, Fundraising and more. Check out the many ways that make PAS a special place for our children, by attending the first HSA meeting of the year or by contacting any HSA board member at any time.

Complete small projects: Contact PAS HSA President  Jim Dugan, or PAS Penn Coordinator Ann Kreidle.
